DOGGIE BONE MINTS

Delicious mini bite treats for your dog

Cooking time: 35 minutes approximately

Ingredients:

1 tablespoon vegetable oil
1 cup of water
Half cup of oatmeal
2½ cups of whole wheat flour
2 tablespoons of dried mint (or one third cup of chopped fresh mint)
⅓ cup of chopped parsley

Method:

Preheat oven to 190°C (375°F / Gas Mark 5).

  • In a large bowl combine the oil and water.
  • Gradually add the flour, oatmeal, mint and parsley.
  • Roll the dough to ¼ inch thickness.
  • Cut into doggie bone shapes by hand or with a cookie cutter.
  • Place onto baking sheet and bake in preheated oven for approximately 35 minutes.

Dog treat baking tips:

  • Bake biscuits on the middle rack
  • If dough is sticky, apply a light layer of flour to the rolling surface, rolling pin and hands
  • Bake biscuits until the bottom of the biscuits are medium brown
  • As oven temperatures vary it is best to monitor the cooking time for the first batch of biscuits
  • If biscuits do not become crunchy and hard, bake them for a further five minutes or turn the oven off and leave the biscuits in the oven to cool
  • Store the biscuits in an airtight container
  • Biscuits maybe frozen after protecting in an airtight container

PLEASE NOTE: If your dog has any known food allergies or is on a restricted diet, you should consult with your vet before serving these treats and also that these are 'treats' and should be given in moderation.
